![]() ![]() I was thinking about getting the 3g iphone, but now that I see they still can't even fix the main thing the phone should do, make calls, I will pass and wait for the BB Bold. I know I will get a bunch of replies from the apple sheep, but lets face it. ![]() Not bad compared to the previous 3 phones which would only allow me to make a few calls a day at most. Then after turn on and off the phone, toggling airplane mode, it will finally get signal again. I can be on a call with 3-4 bars and it will just drop it and stay at no signal for 5-10 minutes. This just doesn't happen indoors either, it will happen while I am driving around the city or in a completely open area like a park and no buildings around. It forces it to connect to the nearest tower. That is why I have to toggle airplane mode. After several hours on the phone with apple and AT&T I have come to the conclusion that the iphone isn't very good at switching towers, or picking up the closest one to you. I am not sure if it is software or hardware related. When it says no signal i have to toggle air plane mode on and off till it finally picks up the signal. My 4th phone is a little better than the previous 3. Like the OP said, I can have another phone sitting right next to the iphone and it will have full reception, yet the iphone says no signal. I know it's not AT&T because I never had this problem before with any of my other AT&T phones. It was always the same issue "no signal". Since then I have gone through 4 iphones. I bought the iphone the first day it came out last year. The problem is NOT with AT&T, it is the iphone itself. I really want this iPhone and would hate to have to sell my house and move. If I cannot get the iPhone's signal stronger at home, is it possible to put the iphone SIM in the W580i to make calls at home? Is there an antenna booster that is not a ripoff/placebo? Any of you radio guys, is there an experiment I can try with some wire or something?ģ. Is there a way to improve signal strength back to at least what I had on the Sony Ericsson W580i?Ģ. (She told me that I couldn't even use an iPhone in my area because it only used UMTS and no longer used GSM. I called AT&T, and their customer service, while polite, was sadly uninformed. Removed silicone case and got another bar, but the signal strength is still poor. I tried the Apple troubleshooting - re-start, do iTunes restore, remove downloaded apps. Signal is so weak, I can't get internet at home without using WiFi. The iPhone only gets 1 bar and sometimes no signal at all, sitting right next to the Samsung on the same AT&T network. On the Sony Ericsson W580i I used previously, and on Samsung on my AT&T family account, I get 3-4 bars. So my problem doesn't seem be with the phone, but rather the signal at my house. I used the phone in a 3G area on my way home, and I was really impressed with the clarity and the speed of the 3G internet connection. I'm not in a 3G area, but I had hoped that I could get some reception. Got the iPhone yesterday and I am having a problem with signal strength at my home. ![]()
